Seriesly Berlin brings together people from across the creative and media industries to share stories, ideas and perspectives, learn from one another and explore the future of serial storytelling. In doing so, we aim to take responsibility – for fostering respectful and discrimination-free exchange as well as for using resources consciously.
Seriesly stands for diversity, openness and mutual respect. We are committed to the principles of the German Diversity Charter (Charta der Vielfalt) and to creating an appreciative and discrimination-free environment at our events.
We want to create a space in which people are respected and valued regardless of gender and gender identity, nationality and ethnic background, religion and belief, physical and mental abilities, age, sexual orientation or social background.
Our Code of Conduct also provides the foundation for how we interact at Seriesly. It sets out the principles for respectful and safe conduct and applies to everyone participating in our events.
Discrimination, harassment and exclusionary behaviour have no place at Seriesly.
Sustainability is an integral part of how we plan and deliver Seriesly. We consider both environmental and social aspects. Our aim is to use resources responsibly, reduce avoidable environmental impacts and, in particular, minimise the emissions associated with our event wherever possible.
To support this approach, we are implementing a number of concrete measures:
More Sustainable Travel
Travel to and from an event can account for a significant share of its emissions. We therefore encourage our guests to choose more climate-friendly modes of transport when travelling to Berlin. Accredited participants and guests are informed about travelling by train and have the option of using a discounted Deutsche Bahn Event Ticket for their journey to and from Seriesly.
More Sustainable Accommodation
We consider sustainability standards when selecting our partner hotels. We work with appropriately certified hotels and recommend these accommodation options to our guests. This allows us to take sustainability into account not only at the event itself, but also in relation to the overnight stays associated with it.
Responsible Use of Resources
We also consider sustainability in our production, equipment, materials and catering. Our aim is to use resources according to actual needs, reduce avoidable waste and choose more sustainable solutions wherever possible.
Measuring Our Emissions
To understand the climate impact of our event not only qualitatively but also quantitatively, we measure the emissions associated with Seriesly. This assessment helps us identify where the largest sources of emissions occur and where there is further potential for reduction in future editions.
Following the event, we will evaluate the data collected and review our measures. We will communicate the results transparently, including the emissions calculated and, where applicable, any emissions compensated.
We see sustainability as an ongoing process. The insights gained from each edition help us further develop our approach and make future events more sustainable.
The 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations provide a shared international framework for sustainable development. As part of the 2030 Agenda, they address the environmental, social and economic dimensions of sustainability.
We see Seriesly as particularly connected to four of these goals:
Seriesly aims to make different perspectives visible and promote diverse representation within the creative and media industries. Across our programme, panels, screenings and discussion formats, we aim to provide space for different voices and strengthen the visibility of perspectives that are not always equally represented within the industry.
We consider diversity and participation fundamental to a contemporary industry dialogue. Seriesly aims to bring together people with different backgrounds and perspectives and create a space in which exchange can take place respectfully and without discrimination.
Our commitment to the principles of the German Diversity Charter and our Code of Conduct form part of this approach.
How an event is produced has an impact. We therefore incorporate sustainability considerations into the planning and delivery of Seriesly and aim to use resources responsibly.
This includes using materials and resources according to actual needs, reducing avoidable waste and environmental impacts, and considering more sustainable alternatives across different areas of event production.
Seriesly is a platform for exchange, knowledge sharing and networking. The festival brings together creatives, producers, writers, platforms, broadcasters, media companies and other industry stakeholders.
Through encounters, discussions and the exchange of experiences, we aim to facilitate new connections and contribute to sharing knowledge and diverse perspectives across the industry.
Creating a more sustainable event is not solely a matter of event planning. Our visitors, accredited guests, partners and service providers can all contribute.
We therefore invite everyone involved to support our sustainability approach – in particular by choosing more environmentally friendly travel options, considering sustainable accommodation, using resources responsibly and contributing to a respectful and discrimination-free environment.
Seriesly aims to be a place where new ideas, stories and perspectives can emerge and be shared. For us, that also means taking responsibility for how we bring people together and how we create our event.
