The ambitious Wanja has hit rock bottom as an actor – he now works and lives in an escape room. His parents, Boris and Sveta, run a Russian restaurant that they can only save from bankruptcy by falsifying financial statements and counterfeiting caviar. When an international streaming service announces an open call for a major film production directed by the American star director Sam Rosenberg, a role that, due to diversity guidelines, can only be cast with a Jewish actor, Vanya lies without hesitation, claiming to be one. What could possibly go wrong? If only it weren’t for his Jewish co-star, Dana Gold, who he also finds very likable.
